Example 1【Heat sensitive・pressure-sensitive dyes】
In these dyes for this application, we use leuco dye which develops color by contacting with acid.
In case of pressure sensitive copying papers, a paper coated by a capsule including dyes and a paper coated by developers are superimposed. By press these papers, the capsule is destroyed and dyes and developers are contacted each other and color is developed.
Heat sensitive recording papers have structure that dyes (color formers), developers and others are dispersed by poly-vinyl alcohol or others as texturizers and coated on the paper. The mechanism of color development is the melt mixing of dyes and developers by heating.

Example 2【Dyes for heat sensitive materials】
Heat-sensitive materials which change color with temperature by utilizing the reversible reaction between leuco dyes and developers compose of dyes, developers and the material which control the color development (such as alcohol type texturizers). As this dye changes its color reversibly at the fixed temperature, it has been applying to indication of the suitable temperature of foods or drinks and the color indication of toys.
Example 3【Transparent heat sensitive dyes for medical use】
The image is created by the thermal color development reaction of leuco dyes and developers. We can realize high gradation by selecting multi-dyes and the kind of binder resins. Furthermore, by adjusting the amount of binders and the grain size of dyes, we can obtain transparency. For this purpose, our dyes have been applying.
Example 4 【Sublimation dyes】
The sublimation transfer printing method is the printing method of the image by making thermal transfer ink ribbons melt and making dyes sublimate by the heated head. Compared with the conventional ink jet printing system, this method has excellent concentration gradation properties and is possible to develop the high image quality full color image which is almost same level with the silver halide photography. Our sublimation dyes can be applied to this sublimation transfer printing method and have excellent definition and toughness in various respects. Especially, our dyes in this line are suitable for application to thermal transfer ink ribbons to create full color image having excellent concentration gradation properties of the developed color and light fastness.
Example 5 【Photo-thermal conversion dyes for CTP】
In the plate making process for printing, the process to print the printing plate directly from the data such as accumulated and treated images electronically by computer is called as “Computer To Plate”. We call it as “CTP” for short. In case of CTP system, we can expect remarkable rationalization such as save sources and save man power as the film making process can be eliminated. Recently, by increasing the types of the materials for plate, we can have a lot of options. The plate materials for CTP can divided broadly into 2 categories. One is the optical mode type applicable to visible-light lasers, and the other is the thermal mode type (heat type) applicable to infrared ray lasers. Our dyes for CTP are photo-sensitive dyes for preparation of the original plate for CTP, which absorb effectively light irradiated from the exposing source.
Example 6【Dyes for PDP neon cutting】
Plasma Display Panel (PDP) is a flat panel display device which utilizes the function of exciting and light emitting of a phosphor by ultra-violet rays generated by plasma discharge.
Though PDP has been attracted attention as a wide screen display panel, it is required to absorb light except ultra-violet rays generated at the plasma discharge.
In these lights to be absorbed, there are near-infrared rays having the wave length of over 850 nm and neon light at around 580 ～ 590 nm. Our dyes for PDP absorb these lights effectively and have been contributing largely as a core material for PDP.
Example 7【Dichroic dyes for LCD】～Contract manufacturing product of Mitsui Fine Chemicals, Inc.)
The display method of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is not the display method by emission in itself like the conventional cathode-ray tube display, but the display method by utilizing the transmittance of light. LCD has been applying widely in various fields.
Our dichroic dyes have excellent solubility to liquid crystals, contrast and clearness, and have been applying widely to liquid crystal display panels, instrument panels of automobile and others.
Example 8【Dyes for laser welding】
Resin welding by laser is the fixation method to weld the contacted parts of the resin parts to be welded each other by laser rays.
Our laser rays absorbing colorant is excellent colorant, unlike to other conventional colorants, which we can confirm the laser welding by visual as it becomes colorless state after laser irradiation. So we can say that our colorant is extremely effective as resin laser welding agents.
Example 9 【Dyes for agricultural films】
By applying thermal rays shielding films, we can absorb heat rays in solar rays and suppress increase in the temperatures of plants and vegetables, and the temperature of the land.
By shielding thermal rays at the cultivation in summer, we can prevent the articulation disorder of the crop plants, improve the germination rate, prevent the turion seeding and reduce manpower by reducing the times of the irrigation. And also, we can expect the growth promotion and increase in the yield by improvement of the cultivation condition. (Dyes in this line have been applying to films and others for green houses.)
In the growth of plants, the photomorphogenesis reaction is influenced by plant hormones called phytochrome. In phytochrome, there are Pr type and Pfr type. By reducing light at around 660 nm, plants are influenced by the Pr type one and become taller. On the other hand, by reducing light at around 730 nm, plants are influenced by the Pfr type one and become dwarf.
By controlling these lights by dye filters, we can control the growth of plants.
To this dye filter, our YKR Series near-infrared ray absorption dyes have been applying.
Example 10【Dyes for illumination sensors】
The wavelength sensitivity of the photo-sensitive elements of semi-conductors, which is used at the light receiving section of illumination sensors has a peak at the infrared region having longer wavelength than visible rays. It detects near-infrared rays which can’t be detected by the human eyes and mistakenly judges it as bright. By applying dyes filters which cut near-infrared rays, we can expect the properties near the spectral sensitivity of the eye.
In this dyes filter, our YKR Series near-infrared ray absorption dyes have been applying.
Example 11【Dyes for flash fusing toners】
The conventional image fixation system of electro-photographic system is the heat roll method. In that case, we can’t escape from decrease in the resolution accompanying with the image change caused by the thermal compression bonding or limitation of the kind of the subjects to be printed.
On the other hand, in case of the melting fixation so-called flash fusing toner welding, it is a non-contacting method by a xenon lamp on near-infrared ray absorption materials as photo-thermal conversion agents. So we will not face such a problem. To near-infrared ray absorption agents, stability of the toner and high visible transmittance in consideration of the influence on image hue are required. (Dyes in this line have been applying to big capacity high speed printer and others.)
